That is extremely impressive when you consider that the latitude is approximately 20.6° N. It is hard to imagine as a flatlander the ability to grow all of those tropical specimens at 5000 feet altitude! I am certain that many more are capable of growing in the area.

Of course we had to visit Tecomán, Colima, (the coconut capital of Mexico): for the 2nd time (only a 2 1/2 hour drive from Ajijic) to see my Cocos nucifera .

Miles and miles of coco plantations. These quick vids don't do 'em justice.  I mean, as far as the eye can see. And then some.

I spend a lot of time down there, the gardens are amazing. Go down there in the rainy season to see the waterfalls.

Looked up lake Chapala and found two pics of palms growing in the water….
