Need ID on skinny palm at ANSG

Are the leaf tips pointed or praemorse (ragged looking). If praemorse I would venture it is a skinny, solitary Ptychosperma. Neat little palm.

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Leaf tips are praemorse. Doing my own research, I believe it to a Ptychosperma nicolai. This is a rare Ptychosperma, which is extremely skinny. It has no tag but is a quarter of the diameter of P. elegans.

Not far away is a palm labeled P. nicolai, which is clearly a P. elegans. One of more than a few mislabeled palms at ANSG! Great species!

Palms can get greatly distorted growing in shade and are hard to ID.  Word of the day: etiolated.

Thank you for that, I've been calling them serrated this whole time :)

Nice.  Will add that to the repertoire as well.  It's nice to have access to people who are smarter than me.

Great jungle palm.

A few examples of the ubiquitous P. elegans with etiolated/praemorse tips both in the jungle (ANSG) and local relatively wide trunked street cats:9E8A34E1-00F3-489B-9441-4F268140745A.thumb.jpeg.03ffbbf7c3cec1f65bcfa572bfb5c5ec.jpeg
