Kim 3,969 Report post Posted April 30 Finally! An old tattered frond sloughed off the Dypsis hovomantsina. Mr. D. carlsmith dropped a frond a few weeks ago and made a display but now it has colored up with a red ring. Ooo là là! Nice contrast with the yellow! Elsewhere, in the spiny forest, Verschaffeltia splendida reveals a demure new leaf. I am enjoying these new purchases on the lanai as a spring arrangement together with the nest found on the ground. Tracy, I grow tillandsias in San Diego too, they are so carefree and the sudden popping of the blooms is a nice jolt of color. I never thought of F. dammaropsis as being colorful, but your photo proves the point. And those aloes really put on a display! John, would that be Dypsis mirabilis with the colorful crownshaft? Looking good. Love the exotic orchids and the mottled Pinanga! And of course the classic flower of Hawaii, Hibiscus, so pretty. Adam, I am always amazed by the array of species you can grow -- looks like many Hawaiian gardens. Kerriodoxa! Awesome! I'm also growing that pendulous Hibiscus schizopetalus, but mine is not flowering at the moment. Wow, Tim, that photo with all the different textures and colors, just wow! I am green with envy! How about we focus not on the Ficus dammaropsis, but the Cerratozamia mexicana behind it instead? Dendrobium chrysotoxum flowers all opened now.
