Juania australis :)

Hey everyone, hope you’re all well

Thought I’d share with you all an update on my seed grown juania,

After a bit of a stressful year for all my palms while I moved house, they are now settling again and putting on new growth.

The Juania, considering everything have done well despite the extra stresses and I’ll be looking at maybe re-potting them this year.

Seed was purchased in 2016 and it’s been great to watch them grow and now develop pinnate leaves

Kept quite a good photo documentation of their growth since seed - fairly slow starting up but growth has been more speedy and consistent than my Ceroxylon for example

2016 after germinating and then 2017

Excellent, I have just germinated some from Alberto Z.'s seeds. I used to have a bigger plant but it spear-pulled twice during very hot summer weather. I gave it away but couldn't resist when I saw new seeds available.

Looking good! How many seeds did you get from Alberto?

found them to be quite resilient palms when they get going. I had one seedling which was stunted from drying to a crisp - I kept it and in a year it started re sprouting again.

Really neat palm. The most difficult palm in the world to grow according to Riffle, Craft's book. Hopeless anywhere in the US, except perhaps San Francisco. You've done well with them.

Thank you : )

to be fair they have been a lot less trouble than a lot of my other palms. My Ceroxylon have been a lot more delicate for example
