Using vermicompost in pots?

Palmfarmer

Recommended Posts

was thinking about putting in Some vermicompost in my potted palms that are outdoors for the added micronutrients. I heard it should be avoided in pots since it drains poorly, but how about mixing in some perlite to fix that problem?
was thinking a mix like this:

1 part coco coir or peat moss

1/2 part vermicompost

1/2 part regular compost

1/2 part perlite

bloodmeal

bonemeal

Organic mineral fertilizer high in pottasium

sounds good? Overkill?

Hi, I mix vermicompost 50/50 with grit sand. I also use this blend for my potted bougainvilleas & plumerias. I don't add coco coir or perlite to avoid excessive moisture retention.

The extra water retention is good for me since I live in the desert.
