Alicante 433 Report post Posted April 10 Damn... How beautiful that place is! Which is the name of the palm that has Washingtonia-like leaves but it actually holds fruits that resemble coconuts?

mfoster 26 Report post Posted April 10 Seychelles is one big botanical garden . Reputed as one of the most expensive tourist destinations but hire car and airbnb accomodation are surprisingly cheap.

Which is the name of the palm that has Washingtonia-like leaves but it actually holds fruits that resemble coconuts? Lodoicea maldivica, the double coconut. A truly rare, and most magnificent palm. https://www.palmpedia.net/wiki/Lodoicea_maldivica

bubba 2,394 Report post Posted April 11 Specataculatron! Those double cocolobos are bodacious! Is the heat and humidity beyond summer in So.Fla. or more tolerable?
kylecawazafla 1,211 Report post Posted April 11 Bubba! The heat and humidity feels like a windless Miami summer day. I must say it's pretty intense. Even the nights are hot! There's minimal respite at the higher altitudes. The beautiful palm with the plumose foliage is a Dypsis madagascriensis. They have naturalized in many places throughout the island.

The sign says Dypsis Madagascariensis on that big split trunk. I didn't know that they would split like that, but I guess Dypsis do have "doinkers" a lot...
