Is your carpentaria palm still alive?

The two 20 ft tall carpenterias that stood side by side, died in the 2020 heatwave where we had several days in a row between 115F and 120F. It didn't hurt the existing foliage any,but the internal buds were cooked on these rather thin trunked palms.Old fronds died off normally over several months, but no new fronds we're grown for replacements. Same thing happened to a couple foxtails,a Veitchia winnin,Ptychosperma solomonense, and Dypsis lutecens. It was the most brutal summer heatwise I ever experienced in the nearly 30 years I've lived out here.

Not to worry though. I have 2 new carpies planted out, to do it all over again! :greenthumb:

I remember that summer and I hated every minute of it.  That sucks about the carpies.  I for some reason have an affinity for them.

the only palm i have now is a coco.  Sold my house on the west side where i had a nice array of palms. Now living in a condo more centrally located for convenience, now limited to what i can grow for a while. So far so good with a coco.  4 years almost from a drupe i brought back from Maui when i lived there. Survived the brutal summer of 2020 unscathed in a pot. Hopefully more years to come.

Add Coccothrinax flowers to the list. These literally go from zero to full bloom overnight!

Silver med fan also has tons of developing seeds. Very pretty palm to look at as seeds develop.
