Yes, correct, we're talking Broome here. Just draw a line between Cairns (NthEast) and Broome (NthWest) and if you want the best winter climate, stay above that line but don't leave Australia. Amen.

Robbin bare in mind that much of northern Oz is well within the tropics and most of the built up areas are coastal.  The northern tips are only just over 10° South, so have an almost equatorial climate.  Most places on the equator, whilst having seasonal weather have similar year round temperatures.  The best thing about coastal or other maritime influenced climates within the tropics is that you don't get the same extreme heat that you get in the centre of a large land mass, so whilst somewhere like Cairns may have an average winter daytime temperature of 26°C/79°F, the summer daytime average is only 31°C/88°F.  Of course the heat often feels more oppressive in maritime climates due to the higher humidity.

Here in Perth this winter we've averaged 19C to almost 21C as a maximum. We average 32Cmax in Jan and Feb. May be a bit more this year. I think we're in for a hot one especially when you look at the Northern Hemisphere summer this year. We may not switch the air conditioning off for 3 months or more. Well not really, but in a hot summer it certainly feels like the air con is continually running. It's the only way to remain sane when the temps go over 40C for a few days.

Tyrone
