How deep to plant seedling?

Recommended Posts

Sorry for the amateur question but I haven't seen this before.  Mail-order Chamaerops seedlings, oli guess this is a  remote germinator?  It looks to me like they were planted too deep?  Should I just cover the roots or also cover the ligule/stem/sheath (help me with terminology please?) that is white-ish and was obviously under ground before?

You're right, these are remote germinators.  I would plant the seedlings so that the cotyledon sheath, radicle and lateral roots are covered with soil.  This thread on seedling terminology labeling should be helpful.  :greenthumb:
