Incoming Winter storm, palm preparations?

Was wondering what people are expecting from the incoming Southeast, Middle Atlantic, & Northeast winter storm in terms of their local weather and what they may be doing to protect their palms.

It's cold tonight for me (hitting 10 F. later), but this upcoming storm will only be a big rainmaker with up to two inches of rain.  I have covered up my Trachycarpus fortunei with moving blankets at the base and then wrapped up the foliage and covered them with a shower curtain., then, covered the whole plant with a large plastic tub.  This is its first winter and it's only about 4-5 feet tall.  Trying to keep them dry this year. Are you doing anything special to protect your palms? I hate January most of all!!!

This last bit of winter weather didn’t really hit us too bad in middle TN. We’ve got guys at a job site in Eden, NC and they got snowed out there. For me I’m just monitoring temps. If it’s going low single digits that gets my attention. Snow is no big deal. New York State is getting hit pretty good right now

It started as snow and there was a bit of accumulation, then heavy, wind swept rain (2 inches), sun is out now but still raining.  Glad power was not lost last night.  Stay tuned, there is an active storm pattern in place, was hearing that another big, southern storm will be affecting the eastern part of the country latter in the week.

Winter is here here for sure, looking like low 30’s for the highs and 20’s for the lows at my house with the weather coming you’re talking about. Man how bad would that be to lose power in the winter?
