It's the season when the warmest water in Florida is from about Palm Beach County southward along the Atlantic. Bill H2DB 399 Report post Posted August 1, 2013 Surf temp ( in the local paper ) , has been 80 +/- 1 degree for about a week. A good bit of fluctuation this year , as it was 70 or just under, about 2 weeks ago after having been mid 70's for a while. Upwelling . We usually have a few weeks in August at 83-86 . Too cold for this black duck to swim in here at the moment..........but that isn't stopping the southerners from Sydney and Melbourne, they keep telling me that it is nice and warm !! Local News station was reporting 56F off Clearwater last night. Crazy to think we're currently seeing water temps that are considered normal off Santa Cruz/ Half Moon Bay back in CA. Mr. Coconut Palm 1,417 Report post Posted February 21, 2016 The Gulf water temp over here at the Port Aransas jetties the other day was 68F, which is WAY ABOVE NORMAL for this time of year, but just the week before was 58F.
