Nico94 149 Report post Posted November 27, 2021 Hello. I visited a beautiful garden on the French Riviera in Menton. This is the Villa Maria Serena. I photographed a Brahea and would like to know if if it is the variety decumbens or calcarea?

MattyB 2,158 Report post Posted November 28, 2021 Not decumbens. I doubt calcarea. Looks like armata.
tim_brissy_13 666 Report post Posted November 28, 2021 Are the petioles armed? I can’t see any teeth even when zooming in although it might just be the photo resolution which makes it difficult to see. If they’re not armed, it probably has to be B. ‘super silver’. 1
Fusca 2,880 Report post Posted November 28, 2021 I think Tim has a good point but agree with Matty. No petiole teeth on B. calcarea but only the leaf undersides are white. B. super silver meets both criteria but I think they they are still green at that age/size. B. armata petiole teeth are barely visible at that size.
