Mega mass PRA in El Cajon CA 11/20/21

Recommended Posts

DoomsDave

The PSSC had its November 2021 meeting and you had best believe that rip roaring good time was had by all. At the Hamann garden on City Lights drive in El Cajon in San Diego County.

Lots of Palm Talkers in attendance and I dearly hope you all see fit to chime on in!

Amazing garden. I live about two hundred miles north and it still amazes me the difference in climate. Those are some happy palms and cycads.

If you’ve ever wondered how big some of the treasured rare palms can get with time, you could see first hand in the Hamann garden.

Here’s a Brahea dulcis, planted in 1996 from a one gallon.

Up into the crown (ahhh, feel those neck vertebrae crunch a bit)

Exactamundo!

And it has been a looooong time, but the trio that originated the phrase,  @paulgila, @Palmgrover, and @MattyB were there in entirety yesterday! Sadly, I was bad years ago at ever taking pics... I'm even more so that way now.  :(

All in all Great day with a large Crowd, probably largest of year.

trying to do my part n grow the club, brought a newbie,  and I’ve got another friend hooked and told him about the Mtgs.   He couldn’t make it and I told him he truly missed out.   A lot of my friends wife’s hate for Getting their husbands the Disease,  much like our host wife standing next to me as he buys palms during the auction one after another lol.   I always tell them there is a lot worse things in this world to be addicted too, and you never have enough to look at or find a spot.

I tell people that think I’m crazy.  It’s like a never ending Painting we are always creating and shaping.   And over time we can change that painting either a little or a lot as our taste changes or what we want to see.  It never gets old to paint a beautiful canvass.   It never gets old to see others paintings or creations as the grow in change.    Kudos to This Masterpiece.

Great pictures everyone!  The Hamann garden is a truly incredible place to experience. It’s the reason I caught the palm bug (and ultimately ended up in Hawaii because of it!).

I'm fairly sure either Dypsis mahajanga or at least a form of madagascarensis.

Great to see you there Chris!

Chris, is this a D. Decipian triple? Seems to have some of the traits but I’m admittedly not the best ID’er. Sweet looking! :shaka-2:
