Nawasi x Red Spicata coconut flowering

I donated this Nawasi x Red Spicata to Kopsick back in 2015 and it's finally flowering. It has an interesting mix of characteristics, so I'm excited to see what it looks like a few years down the road when it's gained some size. It certainly has a lot of the coloration traits from the Red Spicata, but a non-spicate inflorescence. The trunk thickness and growth habit seem to have been passed down by the Nawasi rather than the Red Spicata as well. Interested to see what the coconut shape/size looks like as they develop.

I wish I had been able to get to Kopsick. I have seen a picture of a Cocos nucifera next to a large double trunked Jubea caffra at Kopsick. Do you know if those two specimens are still in situ at Kopsick?

Great to see a donation of such a unique specimen to Kopsick!

What you look for is what is looking

What a beauty!

Thank you for keeping track on your donations and to let us know!

It must be a good feeling to see "your" baby doing so well.

best regards

Lars
