This is really more of a PSA..
The Bureau of Land Management occasionally sells plants to the public that would otherwise be destroyed by construction. It’s a great opportunity to acquire some mature, Mojave natives for anybody interested.

Nov. 13-14, 2021 @ Las Vegas Field Office

9am-3pm - first come first serve.

Available plants will include: golden/silver cholla, pencil cholla, cottontop cactus, barrel cactus, Engelman’s hedgehog cactus, beavertail cactus and Mojave yucca.

That looks like a good deal for locals! Imagine being to buy a plant big enough that it takes 2-3 people to move for under $15.00 !

According to their press release:

"Purchases must be made by cash or check and only people with a valid Nevada ID are eligible.  Prices vary from $3.60 for a small cactus to $14.40 for yucca.  Plants are not for resale. There is a limit of 15 total cacti and yucca per household for this sale.

Those interested in purchasing plants must bring their own materials to pick-up and move the plants. Large plants will require two to three people to successfully move. No driving is allowed on the site; participants will need to transport plants to their vehicle (wheelbarrows and carts are allowed.)"

Tucson ...rest of AZ may also contribute ( or different areas of the state hold similar rescue - type events ) does something similar each year. Never been able to make it to any of the events but pictures of all the plants offered, -and the prices- would make anyone into Cacti / Succulent things drool.

California might also put on similar events, though, for most of the state,  most things offered would be perennials / bulbs of various natives. Many shrubs are difficult to transplant from habitat successfully.
