Queen Palm Tree Roots

I wanted to add some top soil and pea gravel around this palm tree.  How high should I go with dirt and gravel, or maybe just pea gravel instead. Because I didn't want to cover the roots too much in case of rot.

Photos won’t load for me so I can’t actually see your palm. I’ll try and answer anyway. No roots should be exposed at all. Queen palms are pretty tolerant to soil piled even several inches up their trunks. Many palms would not tolerate that.

jim is correct.  queen palms love moisture and it seems the more you pile mulch or soil, the more advantageous roots start to develop and split out from the base of the trunk.  itll just get fatter and fatter.   at least from my experience.
