See any Pseudophoenix sargentii var. saonae growing wild there? Looks like area was cleared for coconut plantations.

So, that's what paradise looks like!  Fantastic, thanks.   Love the birds flying around the drone.

How are you aztropic? great to hear from you.  It had not even occurred to me that that variety comes from there, I suppose it must be. But it would have been hard to find something like that because I visited the island on a boat tour and only had 2 hours there, barely enough time to get away from the crowded beach.

I did actually talk to Leonel before I went and he told me there were some rare palms in that part of DR but without an expert it would be pretty hard to find them.

I did see a lot of Coccothrinax around Punta Cana just growing in the farmlands and along creeks, even right outside the resort we stayed at. I think they were C barbadensis seeing as that is the type that Leonel mentioned as coming from that part of DR. I will dig up some photos I took of those.

The birds do that sometimes, seems like they get curious as to what it is. The key  to get good video footage of them is to just completely ignore them and keep the drone and camera completely straight whilst they fly around it, if you try to move the camera or drone to follow them then the video just looks all jerky.

Would you happen to know the species of birds flying through? I am fascinated by the birds and the water views.

Gorgeous view. I couldn’t notice anything but coconuts in there but I wasn’t looking too closely. I love coconuts, I hope mine survive awhile

Here’s a couple photos of what I believe are Coccothrinax barbadensis. Because Leonel said they are native to the Far Eastern part of the country. They were quite common to see in comparison to how rare some of the other Coccothrinax species are in other parts of the country, and they were plenty of very tall specimens:
