T. 'wagnerianas' x T. 'nanital'

This is going to be one interesting Trachycarpus hybirid.  Wagg being slow growing and Nanital being faster-bigger grower.

Not to much to say about it now since it still a young palm, but will go outside in the ground come spring. Notice the leave are upright.

Interesting hybrid.  I've got a few different trachy hybrids in seedling right now.  waggy x princeps, waggy x nanus, princeps X fortunei.  My favorite so far is the princeps x fortunei.  It went from two strap leaves to this in one season.  While my pure princeps only got one new frond all year.  I'm going to try to buy seeds of every different trachy hybrid I can find.  They grow so well here in the PNW.

Fallen Monk that is so cool, I would also if I had the room, lol.  Your garden will be very interesting indeed.  Adding blue to the leaves is great idea.  Can't wait to see what they all look like in the future! :greenthumb: Go for it Man, we have the best climate for them.

Here is Maggy x Nanus.  Seedling.

Personally I think any of the princess hybrids are superior to most Trachys. Any videos/pics I’ve seen of them they are usually pretty fantastic looking.

@Fallen Munk if you ever have any extras I’d be more than willing to take a few off you for a fair price.

Not looking to sell any but maybe a palm trade.  I've got a few one year old waggy X princeps that I might be willing to make a trade for if you have something that interests me.  I got some seeds from the UK last year but the germination rate was only about 30% because they were from the year before.  I think I only ended up with about 10 of them.

I agree with you Trustandi, Fallen Monk, and Chester, that any princeps hybrids are the way to go.

@Paradise Found it looks cool and upright. It reminds me of Trachycarpus latisectus. I agree with you all the princeps hybrids are looking more superior and great.

I imagine a latisectus X princeps or vice versa would be really awesome.  Never seen that one before.  I've got seedlings from both, so given enough time maybe I'll get to try that.

This is a seedling from gift seeds labeled Nainital, on the left. I think a Waggy got her. I noticed the leaves were too wide for Nainital but it still leans a little even for being at this small size..  Nainitals like to grow a little crooked I've read

Anyhow its crossed with something hopefully the father is a Waggy. The seedling on the right is from some more seeds gifted to me labeled Nainital also, but from another party. It is a 2 ridger which fits for the species maybe it's a real one!

They will be nice palms of that there is no doubt. Interesting to hear your comments about the speed of growth of wagnerianus, although they are slow in the first few years before the form a trunk, I’ve found them every bit as fast as most other trachies I grow.

This year I crossed my nainital with princeps again. This will also make a nice looking hybrid, with both parents being attractive plants, it just has to be.

I agree as well, waggles do grow at a pretty good clip once they get a couple feet of trunk

That sounds like a fantastic hybrid. .

Pretty exciting...I remember us talking about a potential Princeps cross for years

back on EPS and now they are here and in the case of the Princeps x Waggie (at least)

they are looking amazing...the one I planted in the ground took off this year even though

it was a late planting and is just gorgeous with very tidy hairs on the trunk and just beautiful little

leaves that right now truly fall right in the middle of what you would expect (hope for) out of this cross!
