Fixed my Takils

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I had some takils delivered a month or so ago and they were in rough shape. I’m going to include before and after pics. They’ve been treated with fungicide twice and fertilized with a rooting hormone and jacks palm food. I see quite a difference already with them getting their minty green back and the yellow fading. I’ll be excited to plant them in the spring.

Good work!

I've got a takil inground, hasn't taken off exactly but has pushed 4 fronds since being planted the 1st week of May. Hesitant to fertilize any more this year heading into winter, want it harden off.

You’ll have to let us know how they do over winter! They are a cool species. None of my potted palms have grown anything like the ones in ground but all look good. Hopefully getting them nice and healthy for in ground next year.

I got 3 actually. 2 three gallon size and 1 five gallon size. The 2 smaller ones were fine, but the 5 gallon looked crappy to begin with, got spear pull and has been in decline ever since. I’m going to dig it up this weekend. Maybe I can baby it back to health in a pot, but no way it will make it over winter in the condition it’s in.

Oh yea you can definitely see the stress on the 5 gallon. Looks starving! Other two look good. I know they are hard to come by but it’s not right to sell someone an unhealthy plant without at the least disclosing it.
