I just bought some of these from eBay.

None have germinated yet but it's only been a week or two so I can't vouch for their health.

Seller claims these seeds came from a palm tree in zone 8B where they live in one of the Carolina's.

You're in the right place, though you might add a quick post in the  " Wanted " section of the " For sale " section in the Forum..  Plenty of people here should answer back / have seed ( of several different types of Archontophoenix ) to offer.

I agree with Nathan @Silas_Sancona and would much rather get seeds from members here vs. unknown seller even if you end up paying more for them.  Seeds I've purchased here from members have always been fresh and germinated well whenever I did my part!  If the eBay seller really collected seeds from zone 8b Carolina it must have been from a specimen growing in an indoor greenhouse at a botanical garden.

Yep, no way any Archontophoenix, even the Inge Hoffman Kings, which are supposedly a touch hardier than the standard A. cunninghamiana, would survive prolonged, standard Z8 winter temps planted outdoors.. ( everyone in such places would have " a few " if they did )

So I did message him and he said the tree and the seeds collected are in northern FL, just above Gainesville in an 8B zone. They were *shipped* from where he lives in South Carolina.

I'm in the same area and according to a thread here on zone changes/updates in the last 30 years of data, northern FL is actually 9A. So it's definitely possible that the palm grew up in these 9A conditions and has survived through it. He said it's in a partially protected area (from wind).
