Nice find, I don't think anyone here would pass up on a deal like that, I don't know but looks like a 5 gallon?

I like the pointy fiber.  J.M. says they are hardy to 12F-15F. good choice for 8b experiment.

Great choice!

Yours looks a bit chlorotic but I reckon it will be get a bit darker once it's been in the ground for a while! Mine survived the 3F Texas nightmare with only some straw and one layer of frost blanket. Since I read it's native to dry, open areas in South America, I placed it in a wind-exposed spot that gets full Texas sun in well-draining soil. It has always looked good for me, beautiful in low sun and with its large and shiny leaves.

Not sure what you paid for that but that's a nice-size trunk for a 2G! I bet it was a bargain!

I'll share a pic tomorrow!

Well I’m just guessing 2 gallons but based on aquarium size it’s probably a 5 gallon. $35. That’s it.

Yes it’s yellow from being in the pot so long. I’ve got them like this and they green up in no time once I good soil.

Very encouraging to hear yours survived that low. I was planning hottest spot in sandy soil in my front yard but I’m going to wait until next spring as I am removing some more lawn.

thanks again.

Here's some pics of mine!

I am getting reasonable growth now. On average, about half an inch in trunk diameter per year (height is more variable).

Wow that slow huh?  That's quite alright the new garden bed I'll be reclaiming from the lawn will be perfect.  I don't want anything all that tall there.
