I just received my shipment from RPS last week for these.   Got about 60% germination out of the last batch I received from them two years ago, hoping for the same with this batch.  These will be going in the germination beds hopefully by Sunday.

1000 seeds, with only a handful that were bad or floaters after cleaning the seed coat off.

Actually bought 1000 last year but for whatever reason Customs impounded them and I never received the shipment.  Filed complaints with USPS, DHL, and customs but never got an answer as to why.  RPS finally filed with DHL & USPS and we agreed upon a replacement shipment with me only paying shipping and phyto.  Prior to shipping though I requested a USDA import certificate as well, which RPS recommends for all bulk seed orders though they don't advertise that very well.

Previous order was just 200.  Sold most as small seedlings, have about 60 left growing in 4x4x12s and 5x5x12s

But in RPS you have to buy for $25 dollars to place an order.  5 seeds are enough for me.

I'd be prepared to get more at a time if you have the room.

I've ordered seeds from RPS for over a decade now.  An order two years ago if mostly dwarf Butia and Syagrus varieties had really poor germination.   However, the B. Alfredii seed ordered at the same time had about a 60% germination rate.  So yeah, some results are mixed...

I ordered 1000 B. Alfredii in April 2000, they were shipped in May 2000 but I never received them as customs confiscated them.  Never had issues with customs prior to that order.  After going round and round with RPS, DHL, USPS and Customs, RPS agreed to send a replacement shipment with me paying shipping and phyto, but only after I filed for an Importation Permit through the USDA, which was free.  Once shipped it took a couple days to reach Miami then a couple weeks to get through customs.

So my only two recommendations with RPS:

1.  If bulk importing to the US, file with the USDA for the specific seeds you are importing.

2.  Buy only Fresh seeds as listed in their newsletter.  While this doesn't guarantee germination, it gives a more hopeful chance of it being fresh.

Tobias has been in business a long time and is about the only name in the game trying to provide seed of unique palms to the world.  Odds are even if you see the seed listed on eBay it came from RPS...
