I purchased 4 of these palms years ago from the Hilo zoo plant sale they did not have a name when I purchased them but I am curious what their name is. Any help will be appreciated.

Boy Kev, that tall, light green crown shaft reminds me of a young Bentinckia nicobarica. The leaves have an Areca look as well, but most Areca don’t have those long crown shafts. We’ll figure it out sooner or later.

Hi,

the Bentinckia Nicobarica species somehow caught my attention quite early when I started with

my garden. It was probably the background of the Nicobar islands with its still almost untouched

habitat and lifestyle of their inhabitants which made me curious and when rps had seeds available

I placed an order...

I am really glad that I could establish one sprout in my garden...

The green of the crownshaft is indeed somehow unique...

I hope it was ok to chime in,

best regards from Okinawa -

Lars
