NOBODY likes to ship larger plant material. It's a lose lose proposition. Shipping has gotten very expensive lately for one thing. Sometimes shippers are rough handlers. Plants can get exposed to excessive heat/cold,and it's always considered the growers fault if the perfect plant you sent out ends up going south. I personally won't ship anything larger than 1 gallon, and then, only in the pot with all the soil leaving the roots undisturbed. A plant just doesn't pack itself either. Anytime I've shipped anything,it's an hour minimum of time, plus packing materials, plus a drive to the shipper. Seeds are easy, but shipping live plants really is just a labor of love. Anybody that makes the effort,REALLY is doing you the favor.:P

I totally agree and most of us in between SoCal and Florida have no problem paying for that labor. @Phil makes his business shipping palms. Many PTers ship great palms. I appreciate any and all who do. If you have palms available I want,  I have no problem paying there worth. Many PTers could sell many more palms if only they shipped. At the same time everything you said is absolutely true. Wish more people shipped =) any size

If shipping was cheaper, I'd probably have 100 plants in here. And undoubtedly, a massive spider mite infestation.

Everyone has to run their business as they see fit.

If growing and selling palms is more hobby than main income I can see where shipping may not be worth the added time and hassle. If it's your main source of income? I don't see why shipping up to 3 gallon palms couldn't be monetarily beneficial.
