Aiphanes minima (Macaw Palm) Seeds

Recommended Posts

NatureGirl

My friend bought this palm from me many yrs ago, and  now it’s mature and fruiting. I can pick up these seeds Fri.  morn if there is any interest? Easy to sprout and fast growing. This palm is growing in Mainland Melbourne Florida! Under Oak canopy. Mine was taken out by Hurricane Irma a few yrs back.

Ok cool, I will go pick these up tomorrow morn, once I confirm they are good (they look like right size) price will be $8.50/50 or $15/100 plus $5 shipping. Thanks

BTW, these are easy to sprout in 4-6 weeks

Seeds are good! Just cracked one open, nice embryo. $8.50/50 or $15/100 plus $5 shipping. Tree was so pretty, almost hated to remove them.   Beachpalms@cfl.rr.com

Seeds will be sent ‘Uncleaned’ and can be irritating so best to wear gloves!

Charlene, that palm and its seeds are so lovely I am really tempted. But my husband would have a conniption fit if I germinated those spiny darlings.

We saw 100s of those in Cuba in 2014 and he was appalled. I got rid of the seeds I collected when we got home.

Saw my first at Fairchild, I love them, I don’t think they are ugly at all. Mine is now way taller  than shed now, and no longer hiding ;)

I have found these to be easy ‘adjacent’ type germinators within 4-6 weeks.

I find these spiny palms to be true beauties! My neighbor has these two growing in Saint James City, Acrocromia Crispa (Gastroccocus) and Aiphanes Caryotifolia (Horrida)

Can get these if enough interest. Probably be .20 each in amounts of 50 or 100.

My neighbors tree is full of seed right now that are dropping. After thinking about it, it might be Liv rigida, since my tree in my yard turned out to be rigida and we got them from same source. Anyway, I can collect if anyone is interested. Very cold hardy. $8/50 or $15/100 Plus shipping.

I can get v/fresh Pinanga 'kuhlii' seeds,  if there's enuf interest. ( Post office is a nightmare this time of year) This is the' wide leaf' form of P. coronata, beautiful mottled leaves,  new leaves have a reddish tint when they first come out.  Let me know. Thanks

My neighbors tree is beginning to drop a few seeds. I can't cut these off as it is way too high up. I just wondered if anyone was interested in them, otherwise I won't bother collecting them. This tree was received as a Liv. mariae X Liv decipiens Hybrid. That would make seedlings from this palm F2 Hybrids. Most of the ones I use to grow resembled L. mariae, and had lots of reddish color. Let me know if interested and I will collect some but it takes a while as you have to wait until they drop. $8/50 plus $3.50 US Shipping or $15/100 plus $3.75 Shipping.

Before I offer these seeds i first wanted to see if there is any interest. If so I will drive down and fetch them. I'll be the first to admit that Sabal's usually don't impress me much. But when I saw these up close I was really taken with them. They are very striking, not like any I had seen before. If you go to Sabal maritima on 'Palmpedia' you will see some nice photos, when you scroll down, there's one from Fallbrook that shows the petioles up close covered with scurfy brown scales. That's how the ones I saw looked. I know they consider this very close to S. causiarum, and S. domingensis. But they looked different to me. Second photo shows the blue seedlings.  $5/50 or $9/100 plus $3 shipping.
