Christmas/Adonidia palms as indoor/outdoor palms

How do growers who live in non-tropical regions feel about growing Adonidia/Christmas palms as containerized indoor palms? I am thinking about buying one tomorrow.

All my palms spend the growing season outside from April through October, but can't overwinter this one in my chilly but frost free garage (as I do with the Washys, Queens, Butias, etc.).

How do Christmas palms overwinter in a northern home. My light is decent even in midwinter as I face due south and I have fluorescent banks of light in a warm basement.

Have not had the best of luck with this species, perhaps because of watering issues.

For most, they aren't the best indoor palm especially during the winter. Some might "exist" but not thrive and it's a ongoing battle with spider mites.

All that said, I have been keeping 3(together) alive and thriving indoors year around. As an experiment I planted the three that I bought on Ebay each over a foot tall in 100% perlite in a 3 gallong pot. They are in a East window and have been steady growers now for 3 years.  I water them once a week and also check for mites. Usually when I see the webs I take the pot to the shower and spray them off which keeps them at bay for another few weeks.

It’s tough to keep mite free, more so than others for me.  I wanted very much to keep it at the house but I unfairly have a huge two storey atrium outside my office door at work and they let me keep my bigger palms there so it took right off and exploded once it left my living room.  Was alive there at the house, just not thriving.  Also the mites lol.  Outside now till September and then I will get another pic from the office then.

Beautiful! How long have you had it and been transitioning it from outdoors to indoors for the winter?   Maybe I'll have to do that with mine(post above)

Thanks for the honest input, I decided not to treat myself to one.  I had a feeling about this species and spider mites.  If it were "cold" tolerant, I would just throw it into my garage for the winter season but this one it too tropical. If I see a smaller one, I would buy it,  but not interested in the maintenance of a larger palm prone to mites in the house.
