A flower appears? My first time.

It's still kinda hard to see, but is this a flower spike developing on my needle palm? The other side of the trunk has one as well.

The plant just had its second winter in the ground. I was under the impression they don't flower until they're a bit older, but I have no experience.

Looks like it.  They do flower around this time, at least for me.

Rhapidophyllum hystrix is usually dioecious. You should be able to tell what sex it is when the flowers open.
