Butia yatay?

Recommended Posts

Dug this seedling up about 9 months ago down hill from a B. yatay.  Any chance that's what it is?

I think it would be too difficult to ID at that size.  Here are some habitat images,  I vaguely remember that the seed was larger than that of B. odorata.

Some really old plants. I would have pulled over too, grabbing seed into what ever bags I had.

This is suspected parent taken July last year.  It's flowering again  Usually produces a lot of seeds.  The only thing up wind or ground that has seeds is a dypsis pembana.

My odorata seedling had similar strap leaf configuration, but with narrower blades. So it looks like a butia non-odorata.

I brought back a lot of seeds from that trip, but I sold them all to a guy who used to post as 'MonkeyRanch'.  I don't believe he participates here any longer.
