I believe this a Sylvester or canary island date palm, I only got the picture from a friend I haven’t seen it in person. They will turn yellow/orange as they mature correct? Located in Florida zone 9b just curious on an approximate timeline for how long that will take

thanks for any help!

I would like to see the trunk and a photo from the ground to top of canopy.  I only have some hands on experience with CIDP which was my 2nd germination project.  I obtained hotel permission to take a small portion of seeds and yes, orange was the ripe color.  Easy species to remove the fruit which I did with thumb nails.

Since it is in Florida it's likely a hybrid of one or both.  Fruits will likely turn yellow/orange or possibly red.  Not sure of timing though.  I've germinated seeds from yellow fruits before (not the final ripe color) so I bet you will succeed.
