So I thought I would do a tally to see for those of us who have flowering palms how many male and females you have.  It seems to me like the majority of Trachycarpus are male.

My Neighbor has 4 flowering Waggies and all are male

Another Neighbor has 3 flowering fortunei with 2 male and 1 female

3rd neighbor has 4 flowering fortunei with 2 male and 2 female

I have 8 flowering this year and the 4 that have previously were all Male, 4 yet to be determined.

I have 4 that flowered for the first time this year.  3 males, 1 female.  Two more that have not revealed themselves yet.

Is gender of palm trees determined hormonally?  I assume it's not genetic since many palms are monoecious...

My large windmill is a male, however virtually every other windmill on my street (~10 or so) I’ve noticed is female. Needless to say, my Big Papa palm gets around.
