Pindo Palm (Butia Capitata) question

Honez

Recommended Posts

I just got this pindo palm(Butia Capitata) from our local nursery.  The frond tips have started turning colors.  Looks like white/grey color.  Is this transplant shock or something else?

Thank you for your time and help.

I guess it is just some sunburn. I have the same tips on all my old fronds on my Butia. Just keep an eye on it.

Should I move it out of full sun?

How long has it been in full sun? Personally I would not. Worst case you get a Pindo that looks a bit bad for a season or so. You have a full photo? Pindo is among my favorites

This is the full picture of it.  I think it looks good but others say it looks to sad.  It gets sun from about 9-10 am all the wa to sunset.

Looks perfectly healthy. I would just keep it as is in that spot.  You plan to put it in the ground?

Yep! Beautiful pindo you got there, pindos do look blue/silver or liht green, so that may be why others say it looks sad. The light green and blue color is normal for pindos!

Mate,

You appear to have unrealistic expectations of plants grown out in the elements.

It looks better than a lot that I have seen. It's fine.

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.
