Trachycarpus Nanus Flowering

Recommended Posts

Collectorpalms

Survived neglect and historic cold. However it has no local friend to pollinate with.

Both Nanus I have seen in Texas, both eventually got a trunk of 2 ft

Female? Maybe you could find some male flowers from a fortunei that took the big freeze well? Maybe a takil? That could be a pretty cool hybrid. Height and cold tolerant from takil and more cold tolerance from the nanus! Just thinking out loud. A lot of folks would be interested in those seeds.

I’m afraid those are not pure nanus with trunks like that. There will be something else in the mix. I know of a 30+ year old female that still throws flower spikes from below ground level. Pure nanus are rarely offered these days. You can see in this picture where the leaf stalks have been cut.
