the fan palm I.D of that palm looks like a Livistona.Sp to me,

though i fully accept iam a novice in this field.but the first still

with seeds in it has no relation to that of a breha.Sp at all ?

Palmazon, your photos were rockin' with photobucket. More?

Your photos are also quite nice happ. Love me the Livistonas. I think of them as a feather palms masquerading as fan palms. I also think of Phoenix as fan palms masquerading as feather palms. I'm a confused man.

Los Angeles area does have some very nice palms but it coveres such a large area that one could spend a good part of his lifetime and still be surprised every now 'n then with a palmy area he'd never seen before.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

Here is where I work - true the palms are not exotic - in fact quite common. But they did a beautiful job, and my pictures can not do it justice.

This complex was owned by Aaron Spelling and was used as Heather Locklears office in "Melrose Place."

Nice shots, Scott  :D  I agree that it is easy to post photos of the usual washingtonia/queens/CIDP & kings [that I am partial to] rather than the more unusual palms but the "usual" palms are everywhere and so handsome that it is hard not to share the photos.  I keep my camera in the car in order to find the more exotic palms to admire & photograph.

Hey Danny. Think you'll be up to palm spotting again tonight? Last night's run to the Hilton to see the Jubaeopsis was cool. Those palms are massive and its a pity neither of us doofs had a camera with us. Sooooooooo many palms to see in LA.

Anybody have a photo of that big Jubaeopsis caffra at the Hilton that Zac mentioned in above post?  If you do, please post it for us.  It must be one of the largest in the U.S.A.
