Archonotophoenix myolensis First Time Seeds!

Recommended Posts

First time event in my back yard jungle! My only Archonotophoenix myolensis has the brightest red seeds I have seen in a long time. This native of the Atherton Tableland in Queensland, Australia, may be the rarest species in the genus, according to Palmpedia, and it is endangered. I don't know how many exist in the US.

It is by far the smallest and most petite of my Archos and I am excited to have seeds to pass on. See photos below:

Wow, that is so skinny! Love the elongated crownshaft.  I am finding these to be one of the slower species, though not quite as slow as purpurea.

Glad to see! I have one way up here in Coastal Volusia county and it’s one of my favorite palms.  Got it years back at The Searle Bros sale. 2018 barely hurt it so I’m excited about it

They have droopy leaflet tips when compared to alexandrae or maxima. I love this species and have quite a few seedlings plus a few in ground ones. I find them about as fast as regular alexandrae.

Millbrook, "Kinjarling" Noongar word meaning "Place of Rain", Rainbow Coast, Western Australia 35S. Warm temperate. Csb Koeppen Climate classification. Cool nights all year round.
