Borassus flabellifer shows its Colors

Recommended Posts

About a week ago we trimmed some of the lower fronds off our largest Borassus flabellifer to make room to place newly potted voodoo lily bulbs (genus Amorphophallus) and to show off the vibrant colors and black highlights of the palm's trunk. I grew this palm and its sibling from seeds sent to me by Kris in India in 2008 - love and thanks to you, Kris!

That awesome yellow-orange older petioles is the only reason why I crossed Aethiopum off my list.  The green/yellow/orange/black contrast is really cool!  I've run out of space for big diameter palms, so I've become a bit more picky on acquisitions for my nursery area.  Otherwise I would have snapped up a couple of your really nice Aethiopum pots!  :)  Any Flabellifer seedlings on the way?

Thanks. But you didn't get aethiopum from me - I've never tried it. Got no flabellifer seedlings either.

Such a beautiful palm. There is a good episode of mark wiens eating borassus.

I dunno if this gets said enough, but the contrast of your mulch with your gorgeous jungle is so refreshing @PalmatierMeg
