Tipuana tipu - to prune or not to prune?

I need this Tipuana to make the canopy, but the branches are too sparse, do I have to shorten them to thicken the foliage?

Thanks

would trim off any/ all of the droopy lower branches but leave all the ones growing upward.. The " sparse-ness " you're seeing is typical of younger Tipuana. ( the gawky teenager growth phase ) Canopy will thicken up as they get older/ taller. You'd only tip prune if you want to keep the overall height of the tree shorter.

Also this is the time of the year they drop their old foliage before sprouting new growth. I would wait for that to happen first and tehn reevaluate after that time-
