BS Man about Palms 2,337 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 Sadly, this is the only pic I managed as Steve in SoCal forced me at gunpoint to be his official photographer.. El Hoagie is safe with La Hoagie... (and so was I. ) Steve then shoved me to the ground and ran away with my film..

osideterry 83 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 It was a lot of fun meeting everyone. Especially enjoyed hanging out in Matt's greenhouse with the gang afterward. Hiking to the bottom and back up gave me a real respect for how much work is ahead.

Gileno Machado 199 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 What a great bunch of palm nuts... I guess I'll have to host a palm party like that one of these days here myself...Maybe Bo could help with the arrangements of a low cost special charter flight? No...not that airplane Don DK found in Bolivia...
deezpalms 56 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Hey Matty, sorry I didn't make it! I made a huge ass salmon that I was going to bring over but I had waaaay too many beers the night before Looks like you folks had a great time though!
freekypalmguy 8 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 C'mon, where are the embarrassing, falling down drunk pics we were promised
MattyB 2,010 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 It was great fun! There were about 30 or 40 other people (family and friends) besides the palm nuts you see in the photos. It was a blast! Wals poem was beautiful. Thanks to everyone for coming and to those of you who brought or sent gifts. I really didn't expect gifts but you guys are just so generous. My wife was very surprized at how very nice all the palm people were!  I guess she expected them to be more like me. Wayne was there also but managed to avoid being caught in any pictures. I tell ya, Danny Lewis and Wayne are the enigmas of the PSSC. They're never seen in the same place at the same time. You make your own conclusions. Cheers!
bgl 2,751 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Matty, Obviously a great day and great get-together! Best of luck to you and Jen with the house and all the palms you'll be planting there in the years to come! Bo-Göran PS to Gileno - I actually worked for a small firm in Sweden arranging charter flights before moving to the USA more than 30 years ago. That was pretty interesting. And no, the Bolivian DC-3 would not be in the top 50 of planes to be considered for a charter flight to Recife!
elHoagie 275 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Matty, thanks for hosting a great party, and Wal's poem was fantastic...
paulgila 194 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 yes,i felt wals eerie presence...oh,wait,that was the 2 bottles of sake & 18 beers matty made me drink
osideterry 83 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Wal's poem reminded me of the Graham Edge poetry from a Moody Blues album ..."Breath deep the gathering gloom..." Of course for me that may have resulted from combining beer, aussie shiraz, sake, and Bill's Dublin Dr. Pepper.
Scott 10 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 It was alot of fun.... My first Sake - Which was real good. Paul what kind was that? Great to meet Jack, Terry, all the others. Thanks to Matt & Jen for their fine hospitality.
