Would like to drop in and party a bit with you all as it seems I already know many of you just from participating on this Palmtalk site.  If you postphone it till October then I just might be able!  Anyway, have a great time and congratulations on the new house and future palm garden!

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

 

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).  

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.  

Nice sunsets!

Matt,

Sounds like your gonna have a fun party.  If you don't have an umbrella policy, you should get one.  It's not that much more to cover you for 3 or 4 million....in case some drunk breaks his neck falling off your deck. That could be costly if they sue you. I have one and it gives me peace of mind....and it doesn't cost much more than a new Dypsis or, Brahea in my case!

I guess we're not having the "falling off the deck while drunk for style points" contest. Sort of a belly flop contest, minus water. Oh well... have to find other ways to amuse ourselves.

There's plenty of parking on the street.  I have a neighbor who throws parties all the time and they park all along the street where there's room in the bike lane.  I also can park about 6 in my driveway.  If you've got 4x4 you can pull onto the dirt area but if you don't you might get stuck in the soft stuff.  I'm sure you'll figure it out.
