Great start to spring for my Ensete maurelii banana

My Ensete maurelii banana  is solid about 6' up the trunk . Many times it comes back , after winter  , very low on the trunk and close to the ground . It should be huge this year .
With their propensity to fall over when large , I think I will stake it up very subtly with wraps a few feet up on the trunk . It seems like I find myself in an emergency situation every year when one of those October hurricanes or a t'storm comes through and it gets practically blown sideways .

Wow, I didn't think this type of banana could survive your zone 7 winters.  Do you protect it in any way?

Does new growth come off the trunk or pups?

It doesn't spread like Musa basjoos so it is just a solitary trunk .

They are pretty hardy . My low was 16F this winter so it can handle that no problem . Sometimes I put mulch up high on the trunk during cold snaps as protection .

Thanks ,Will

hey will,, im out in clemmons area and palm seedlings are invasive out here.. they are absolutely everywhere.. i noticed in your photos that you do not have the same problem.. the seedlings are not clustered around existing palms necessarily.. but distributed all over the yard, sidewalk cracks, gutters, etc.. do you have the same issue?
