Sylvester Palms' Trunks

Recommended Posts

Hello all,  I was wondering if anyone could inform me as to what is being put on a Sylvester palm trunk to rejuvenate the coloring.  For areas that are not familiar with this practice, it is very common in the South Florida area and provides a great look.  I was hoping to maintain this practice on my palm as well.  Thanks in advance.

Of course when I went by the trees that are always looking sharp, they were not done! :indifferent: I will try to update again with a photo of the trunks when I get a chance.  Someone, at least in south Florida, has have to seen these touched up trunks. Anyone ???

I've seen people pressure wash them and I've also seen people seal the wood to preserve the clean look after diamond cutting.

Here is a couple pics, one has been recently treated.  Thanks everyone for the help, I finally found out the secret.

And the secret was ____________ ?

I ask because I have a young Sylvester Palm myself, and we were considering possibly doing the dye/seal thing with it. My husband is a pretty good craftsman, and would be able to do the needed maintenance. Just if there's something subtle we could do to improve the look though. The look we like is the one you sent photos of.  If you could share the tips you learned that would be much appreciated (PM if it's an "industry secret" kind of thing). Thanks!

It's Thompson's Water Seal or a similar product. They say it does not hurt the palms, but I've never tried it on my own.
