I at first thought that it as a juvi brachichiton, but the leaves have the feel of a Schefflera actinophylla as opposed to the normal thin leaf feel.

Any ideas as to it's ID

Def. not any Brachychiton.. Looks closer to a young Breadfruit or something similar in the Genus Artocarpus.  Definitely something in the Mulberry/Ficus ( Moraceae ) family.

Further investigation reveals that the juvi foliage of the artocarpus heterophyllus does indeed have such leaves that stabilize upon maturity to the familiar avoid shape. How odd and sad that they don't maintain that leaf shape. I have a rather large one that I grew from seed, but definitely don't remember it having that stage of leaf shape before aquiring it's mature configuration.

Thanks
