Picked these up ordering some landscape block at Lowe’s. Both labeled as the same thing, which they are not the same:

“Torch cactus - 15F”

This one likes like a mystery bloom grandiflorus hybrid to me:

Yep, both appear to be grandiflorus types..

Last one looks -to my eye at least- like it may have a high degree of  Tricho ( or Echinopsis.. since various authorities keep going back and forth w/ what Genus it is in ) candicans in it since the spines are shorter, like they often are on the normal form of that sp.  But, w/ all the generic, mass-produced, un-named crosses you see out there these days, i could be wrong..  If it flowers white, than def. closer to candicans..

Other is a tough call..  Flowers could be yellow, or some shade of red/pinkish..  First Light, Apricot Glow, & June Noon ( Especially ), have longer spines / are more densely spined, and have a lighter green skin color compared to the rest of the Tricho/Echinop.  i've got.

I was hoping being labeled “torch” that they had some candicans in them.
Im curious about the tough call one the most. I picked it up because it looked so “weird” to me I guess. Grandiflorus that I’ve seen get significantly more mass and height before sending any pups, and it already has many.

I’ve noticed that as well. I stopped trying to get it clear and chose the one I can spell from memory easiest ha.

From everything i have seen, Tricho hybrids can be quite variable depending on parentage.. There's a nursery down in Tucson i visited that must have had several dozen 3-5gal specimens on a table that ranged from minimally spined, to long, and completely spine covered.. some were chunky and full to the brim of their pots w/ pups while others had maybe 3 or 4 pups and one or two stems that were longer, ..maybe not as thick as the pups.. Flowers on each ( that were open ) were quite variable as well.. Wish i would have had more $ on me that day, lol.. Some really nice crosses, even if some weren't labeled..
