I'm guessing 5-6 years. It won't get much larger than it is.

OK...I know this is a cold hardy palm forum but cold hardy agaves seem to really compliment cold hardy palms so I’m giving one a try...an Agave parryi var. truncata. It arrived bare root, though it was advertised as a 10” potted plant...the roots were a bit frayed so I cut off the sloppy ends and sprayed the whole root base with a copper fungicide, positioned it in the “prepared“ whole (the anticipation was a little weird on my part, I admit it) mixed the gravelly soil, poked it around the roots with a chopstick and gave it a good dose of water. Some thicker roots actually looked a bit desiccated. Hope I situated it good enough for sun exposure...it’s a little mixed but gets a good blast of sun from late morning to late afternoon. We have such tall trees in this bottom-of-the-bowl situation we have here In our local landscape but I think keeping it dry in the winter will go a long way to its success. Anyway, I added the second pic to tie it in with the Trachy trunk...if you look closely, you’ll see the agave bottom center...I’ll finish the surface off with a small quartz or granite gravel...

Today we stopped at our local deli for lunch. As we were leaving I noticed two large Phoenix palms on each side of the driveway. One was loaded with seeds while the other, a male, was not. The fruits were still green and were 1" long x 1/2" wide. The seeds are 3/4" x 3/8". The Phoenix genus is not my favorite but these two palms were spectacular beneath the sunlit sky. They have been cared for and pruned judiciously and were perfect. I saw no other Phoenix palms nearby. My question is: Can anyone tell me what hybrids these two palms could be (almost all Phoenix in FL are hybrids)? Is anyone interested in seeds when they ripen? If the offspring take after the parents they should turn out to be awesome palms. I hope everyone agrees. I took the following photos:
      Phoenix species/hybrid
      Fruit and seeds

      Seeding Female palm
