Walk in the Garden

The Palm Nut

Recommended Posts

A storm is brewing, can hear the thunder so looking forward to a nice downpour to reinvigorate the garden. Took some pictures to pass the time.

Cheers

That is a very nice tropical looking garden !
For our mates in the States, 31.6*S is a fair way out from the Tropic of Capricorn, and while that part of the Central- North NSW coast is generally mild and equable, they can and do suffer from some extremes. The Airport at Port Macquarie has been as high as 46.6c ( 116f ) and as low at -3.5c ( 26f ). So to have this garden looking this good is amazing !!

Oh yeah, I like it, I like it. I’m all for the jungle look, creates it’s own microclimate.

Hi Greysrigging

It has been a challenge over the years, flooding during winter being the worst followed by a cold snap. We have had some hot days but not usually the norm.

Like what you have done with your place.

Just keep putting in palms, plants and the next thing you know you have run out of ground and light. Then when you start thinking about where has all that time gone your selection of plants begin to change. Wah Lah! it's a jungle!

What's the big canopy tree hanging over the Beautiful Blue Ginger some sort of ficus.?

Delonix regia (royal poinciana) The tree goes dormant in winter, sheds its leaves and allows sunlight in which is good for the garden.

This tree is renowned worldwide for its clusters of exquisite red flowers that blanket the tree and show up in the summer months, actually its just starting now.
