Ravenea Xerophila sun burn?

Coasta

Recommended Posts

Hello! I have a Ravenea xerophila, and have been trying to slowly acclimate it to full sun. Over the last week I have started to notice some deep brown spots on the tips. I know some tip burn is normal, but these are starting to creep deeper and deeper!

Just want to confirm this is sun burn and nothing else I should be worried about and whats the best way to acclimate since I seem to be having a hard time! I am located in the Phoenix, Arizona area and the temps over the last week have been in the 80s for the most part.

Thanks for looking.

It looks like sunburn to me. I would think that this particular Ravenea can "harden" up to tolerate low humidity, intense sun. But a bit of shade cloth might be in order for a couple months..
