James B 448 Report post Posted November 18, 2020 So I’m well aware of Butia having variety from very green to very blue and in between but purple? Anyone have a palm with this coloration? This is still a very young palm and since it’s only at the leaf bases will it go away as the palm matures similar to Archontophoenix producing red or Orange new leaves while young but once mature they open green?
Fusca 1,544 Report post Posted November 18, 2020 (edited) Yes, the purple leaf bases and sometimes purple leaf petioles are fairly common with Butia odorata and even show up on mule palms. I'm not sure if they keep that coloration throughout their lives though. Check out Josue's Butia in the following thread from last month: Edited November 18, 2020 by Fusca
