Trachycarpus Fortunei brown/yellow leaves

I planted 7 healthy 3-4 meters Trachycarpus Fortunei Palm trees from pots about 2 weeks ago. They had been growing in pots for about a year. A few days ago I noticed that tips of the leaves turned yellow and brown. All of the leaves are affected except the youngest ones in the middle. Any ideas why?

We watered the palms on day 0, 3 and 7 after planting them.

Hi, welcome to Palmtalk.  I can't tell where you are located, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.  The palm is probably a bit stressed after being planted.  I would not have put the grass back around the palm so close to the trunk but rather I would have put mulch down instead.  Fortunately it looks to be big enough to handle the upcoming cold winter weather.  Since I see leaves changing color in your photo I am assuming that you are much further north than I.

I don't think I would have planted right before winter but the brown tips are no big deal.  The palm will be stressed for up to a year while it settles.  Just closely watch the growing point (spear) and the newest fronds.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum.

Advice you have received so far is all good, I would not worry too much, especially since mine have looked like that for years. :D

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.
