Brownish black new leaves in center of date palms

Recommended Posts

Barry Hunnel

Hello,

I have 11 date palms that have been transplanted since April this year in Gilbert Arizona.
They are probably 8 years old as they stand 5 to 7 feet tall at the top of the trunk.
I just noticed that the center new growth has a dark brownish color and not A bright green.
Can anyone give me a suggestion of what may be going on With the trees. They don’t look as vibrant green as I think they should either.
Thank you.
Barry

Stop worrying - they look fine. Time to trim off the brown outer fronds, new suckers, and enjoy your plants. New,unopened, fronds in the center, always have a thin brown paper covering on their top side. That is what you're seeing.
