Experimenting with YouTube

My six year old son spends too much time watching YouTube.  He has become obsessed with starting his own YouTube channel, so I finally gave in and tried "Camtasia" to edit the video.  Our first video is not of very good quality, but it was fun to make, and it got my son off of YouTube for a little bit!  I'm sure not going to quit my job, but If we keep making videos I figure we will get a bit better with our production quality, and I will be able to add some videos of our progressing garden on this forum.  I am in the process of grading a large part of my property so I haven't really been going much gardening, but we can make videos of the progress.

Camtasia seems to be pretty easy to learn, and I am thinking of buying it.  What are peoples thoughts?  As I actually make videos it makes me more aware of the high level that YouTube videos have progressed too.  Maybe in a few years ours can be that good -- and maybe I can make enough from the videos to pay our water bill..  Anyway I will see how long I actually stick with this.

Here's our first amateurish try.  It was more of an experiment than anything else.

Two thumbs up !  :greenthumb:  :greenthumb:   It's really important to spend time with one's children !

( I don't mean to sound patronizing,  My father abandoned our relationship when I was two years old.  This caused me a lot of angst and hurt through my childhood.)

Thank you.  I totally agree with you.  My son spends too much time watching videos about video games -- like Roblox.  So this is a way to get the kids away from YouTube, and out doing something like gardening.

I think it lasts well into adulthood, just takes time to realise it has. I think when you have kids of your own you begin to realise that it has affected you more than you thought. All we can do is be the best father we can for them, bit difficult when you never had those lessons yourself but the bar is pretty low, not too hard to improve on that especially when you love your kids, half the battles won then.
