My neighbor has these doubles he got from Home Depot a couple years ago. They have grown rapidly and are seeding like crazy. I grabbed a few seeds but he didn’t actually know what it was. He said it was something I had never heard before but I think it’s a ptychosperma. Even though I have never seen these at any place locally.

Indeed that is what they are. One of my favourites!

Long time ago I ordered one through Home Depot - a 25 gal. triple trunk. That was during those 3 bad years we had the ridiculous freezes '08,'09, and '10 I think it was. I had to replace one that was killed at a client's. Then the one from HD got killed the following winter. So I gave up and went with a Queen. And of course it's been 10 years now without a killer freeze.

Here's a double and single I picked up at the end of last year. Still haven't planted them anywhere....still processing.....;)
